The Dark-eyed Junco, Oregon subspecies, is a common bird here during the winter. Known locally as “Snow Birds,” they spend their winters in the low lands, and summer in the higher elevations.
In the fall, it’s easy to tell when winter arrives, as the snow birds show up right around the same time the temperature starts to fall.
Then in the spring, they disappear right around the same time the temperature starts rising.

It is a pretty Junco, a little more colorful than the Dark Eyed Junco I see here in Maryland.
Yup, your Junco looks different than my Junco! Still a very pretty bird... both species ;-)
We have the dark-eyed. Interesting to see another variety. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Nice contrast against the snow...I got my first Dark eyed Junco images this past week with my new lens.... Thanks for a good post!
A beautiful shot.
Looks like you were in my yard! I had quite a few Junkos, Spotted Towhees, Chickadee's, Sparrows.....you know the drill. Thanks for sharing! Here is my entry.
I like your Junko. The snow makes a great backdrop.
