Camera Critter #150

One of the sure signs of spring for me, is the return of the breeding males.  Normally, this begins in late March.  However, spring has sprung early this year in my world of birds.

I had originally grabbed my camera to get a photo of yet another new ‘yard bird’ for me…a Red-tailed Hawk.  However, as I lifted my camera, he got nervous and flew off.  But shortly after he departed the area, the little birds returned and I was able to capture several male Lesser Goldfinches and one male House Finch.

Beautiful photographs! We've had a couple of warm days here, but the temperatures are supposed to drop back down to "winter" temps.

Beautiful finches!
I hope Oregon doesn't experience what we did. We had some birds, mostly sparrows but also some cedar waxwings, arriving a couple of weeks ago. Now the weather is horribly cold again and I can't look outside without wondering where those birds are and what they are doing. It's currently -26 Celsius, which is 15 below zero Fahrenheit. Brrrr for birds, animals, and all of us.

Wonderful photos -- I love the Goldfinch -- so pretty and springy -- considering how overcast it is here lately springy is a good thing :-)
