Camera Critter Meme #30

Lizards!

For some, it brings a shudder of the body...for others, an admiration of nature.

I'm in the second camp. At one time, I wandered the high desert areas and saw lizards and just walked on by. I was after birds...then it was birds and butterflies...finally birds, butterflies and dragonflies. Now, I shoot anything and everything which flies or crawls around on more than two legs.

And lizards have become my absolute favorite subject.

I can't pass by one and not try to sneak up and got that perfect photo. Not only are they gorgeous creatures, some even know how to pose for the camera. Since I have started shooting the lizards around me, I have learned a few things.

First, if it's too cool, they run.

Second, if it's too hot, they run.

Third, if the temperature is just right, they pose.

So, enjoy some of my favorite lizard shots.

Plateau Striped Whiptail

And my current favorite favorite lizard shot, a very cooperative model who let me get closer and closer, until finally, he'd had enough and was gone.

Lizards in the high desert area of central Oregon are, as you can see, gorgeous creatures. Some have a brilliant blue underside, some don't. Some are well marked, some aren't. But they are all the perfect subject for Misty Dawn's Camera Critter Meme. Click on the meme name and check out other posts. Then join the fun.

Love your lizards! I liked that stripey guy and the shot with two lizards in it. Looks like they like you right back. :)

I don't mind seeing lizards on my computer screen but I admit to jumping at first when I see them in the wild. ;-)

It's amazing how well camouflaged the lizards are. The detail in the last photo is amazing... (I think he's grinning at you!) Wonderful captures!

Great photos! We have lots of lizards here, but I don't think any of those. It's amazing how their coloring matches their surroundings.

I'll give it to ya, the photos are great, snakes with legs if you ask me.

that's so cool, I never realized there were so many varieties as there are none running wild in Delaware. Thanks for posting them :)

Wow that is so cool how they just blend into the surroundings, especially that first one.

Leaping Lizards, Batman! I love the one where he is lifting himself up off the rock in a "push up" like fashion! Great lizards ;0)

Your lizards are awesome!

I see why that last one is your favorite. Just, wow! I was ooohing over it before I read it was your favorite. The little guy posed so nicely. He just jumps right off the screen.

These are so cute. Remind me of ones we saw in the South of France.

Great shots! I don't think I'd enjoy having them in my camp though. I don't like bugs, snakes or other creepy things like that.

You've got some great shots there! I've recently become very interested in photographing lizards. They're fascinating!
